Hi there! My name is Alyssa Wilson and I am a third-year Strategic Communications Major with a focus in Media Design (CMCI) and potentially a minor in Digital Art at the University of Colorado Boulder.

I've been fascinated with art for as long as I can remember but found my passion for illustration in high school and decided I wanted to make art for the rest of my life.

When I make art I start with inspiration and go from there. My themes typically include radical self-acceptance, intersectional feminism, consumerism, and how that impacts the world around us.

I make juxtapositions between hard and soft, light and dark, as well as organic and man-made objects. I use darker colors and a neutral color palette with splashes of bold color. I am a fan of symmetry and a lot of my design is inspired by traditional tattoo & tarot card art.

I typically make digital illustrations using the Procreate software but I also love to make collages in photoshop. I may dabble in actual tattooing shortly- making this my only non-digital medium.

I like my art to be inclusive, diverse, and empowering to those that view it, but I also use it as an outlet for my personal struggles or views on life. I use art to cope with my perception of society that fluctuates from nihilistic to optimistic quite frequently.

Through Digital Art 2 I hope to hone in my inspirations and themes across my work and tackle harder topics than before. I not only hope to grow as an art student but as a well-rounded artist in the real world.
